“If you want change globally, you have to make a change locally… one person at a time—that is how we change the world.” Fitzgerald resident and volunteer at Brilliant Detroit’s newest hub, Mr. Conway’s enthusiasm for kid success and the positive impact that we can have on the community together is heartwarming and inspirational. He notices that people always say, “It takes a village to raise a child,” but questions, “where do we get the village?” According to Mr. Conway, the Brilliant Detroit hub will be the community center that brings neighbors together, creating a village to raise Fitzgerald’s children. He recognizes that some parents struggle to provide certain things for their children but excel in providing others. He believes that having this community center where families can share their talents with one another will build community and transform lives.
